Memo & Jacquelene Acevedo will be celebrating Father’s Day at Birdland on June 17th! The father/daughter team bring their fiery rhythms and concepts to original compositions and Jazz Classics on the unique style of Memo’s Manhattan Bridges Orchestra, a ‘global jazz’ 10 piece powerhouse unit, featuring elements of Be-Bop with rhythms from Brazil, Cuba and Colombia. Born in Colombia, a sort of middle ground in Latin Music, Memo Acevedo is highly regarded in the fields of Afro-Cuban and Brazilian music, having received (among numerous awards) one from the Cuban Ministry of Culture in Havana (2014).
