TUESDAY, APRIL 2nd | SHOW: 8:00PM | TICKETS: $21
Danilo Brito is an award-winning wizard of the mandolin and an authority in the art of playing Choro. His repertoire spans more than a century from the birth of Brazil’s first national music to the major composers of Brazilian music and on to his new compositions that are expanding the literature. His ability as a composer fuels his skill as an interpreter: he fully understands the original composer’s intention and brings its essence forward with clarity that often exceeds the originals. The result honors both the original compositions and his capacity to go deeper with the soul of the music. Audiences throughout the world continue to be touched by his work, united by the verve and structure of the original and blossoming anew in the 21st century.
During his spring 2019 tour he will release his newest album, Da Natureza Das Coisas (The Nature of Things), with new compositions of his own as well as interpretations of works by Brazilian composers such as Heitor Villa-Lobos and guitarist Garoto. The album was recorded in the studio without headphones or editing with the musicians seated in a circle as in a rodas do choro. This Yoshi’s performance will include repertoire from the new album.
